Reduce crinkled, crepe-like skin that plagues the eyes

You may feel youthful and at the top of your game, but when you look in the mirror, your eyes tell a different story. There is no area of the face hit quite as hard by aging as the eyes. From wrinkles and fine lines to bags, sagging skin and discoloration, it can be frustrating indeed to hide these flaws with makeup alone.

While dermal fillers can go a long way in helping to curb crow’s feet and wrinkles, they are not as effective at reducing the unsightly crepe-like skin that begins to form in the lower lids as a result of the aging process and exposure to sun damage. A skin pinch is a cosmetic procedure that can help smooth away excess skin while preserving the delicacy of the under-eye area.

Skin pinch is often performed under local anesthesia to ensure each patient is completely comfortable during their procedure. The process typically takes around 45 minutes to perform. The sagging skin is pinched with a forcep, and then cut away using an ultra sharp, refined scissor. This tiny incision is then closed with razor-thin, dissolvable sutures. Skin pinch can be combined exceptionally well with a blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery.

Who is a good candidate for skin pinch?

Clients will have redundant skin beneath the lower lids that is too delicate to be treated with lasers or a chemical peel. Patients undergoing the skin pinch procedure should be in good physical and mental health, with no major medical issues. As always, clients should have realistic expectations for improvement in their appearance based on their confidential consultation with Dr. Karam.

Recovery

The skin pinch procedure, while surgical, has a very short, manageable downtime. Dr. Karam will prescribe a soothing ointment to apply to the incisions for around 5-9 days. Some minor bruising and swelling is to be expected, but these side effects will fade within about 7 days.
