Botox – Botox injections are used to help relax expression lines (wrinkles) in the upper face and around the eyes. It makes the face look more youthful and the expressions less harsh. This is used for both prevention and treatment of wrinkles.
Fillers – Fillers are used to fill in folds and wrinkles around the mouth and nose (nasolasbial folds). Common fillers are Juvederm, Restylane and Radiesse.
Facial Volume Replacement – One of the most important and common changes associated with aging is facial fat loss (lipoatrophy). Fat loss around the eyes and cheek leaves the face looking hollowed and gaunt. As a result, the face will appear older and less vibrant, energetic and healthy. You can see it first around the eyes which make an important negative impression of looking tired and older..
There are a number of ways to correct facial volume loss, however, the two most common and effective ways are fat transfer and Sculptra.
Fat Transfer – with this procedure, fat is removed from one part of the body (typically stomach in men) and is added to the face. The results are designed to restore the lost fat in a permanent way. This can have a major rejuvenative effect. Understanding how the male face ages is an important prerequisite. Male facial fat transfer requires a different set of aesthetic criteria given the fact the male face is so unique. Read more.
Sculptra – is a stimulator of collagen and works slowly over time. Sculptra is injected every 4-6 weeks and typically requires 3 treatments. The results can be very effective and rejuvenating. The process does not require any downtime.
Eyes – The eyes are perhaps the first part of the face to show the signs of aging. Treatment of the eyes typically will require a combination of removal of excess upper and lower eyelid skin (Blepharoplasty) and the addition of fat to the lower eyelid region. The fat transfer is used to soften the dark hollows created by volume loss and the removal of skin is designed to smooth out the creepy excessive lower lid skin and open up the puffy and hanging upper lid skin. Occasionally, the fat pads of the lower eyelids will need to be removed. The trick in male patient’s is to know how much to remove so that the eyes maintain a natural masculine look.
Jaw line and Neck Laxity – Another area that really bothers men is the sagging and loss of definition of the jaw line and neck. With time the muscles in the face and neck start to relax leading to sagging. This result in the presence of jowls and neck waddle. The correction of this is treated with either a facelift, neck lift or combination of both face and neck lift.
Rhinoplasty is nose shaping. Small changes in the shape of the nose can result in significant changes in the appearance of the face. Sometimes, rhinoplasty is used to correct problems that have occurred as part of sports injuries and other times simply just to refine a feature that may be causing a negative impact on the appearance. In other cases, it may be combined with work on the inside of the nose in order to enhance breathing and snoring.
