Combatting the cruel burdens of aging with a transformative neck lift surgery
While the anti-aging industry frequently focuses exclusively on the signs of maturity that affect the face, the neck receives less attention – until its crepe-like skin begins to sag and the once-tight muscles lose their elasticity. Then it becomes apparent that the region below the chin requires it own cosmetic intervention.
Our neck lift in San Diego surgery serves to reduce the unsightly banding, excess skin and fat that plagues the neck in order to create a more appealing, youthful aesthetic. Once the neck has accumulated fatty deposits, it’s unlikely that diet and exercise can turn things around, and often surgery is the only solution that will truly address the problem successfully.
Our neck lift in San Diego surgery is performed under general anesthesia at our beautiful San Diego outpatient facility. This thriving medical center comes with all the same advanced technology and state-of-the-art equipment as any local hospital, but boasts greater convenience, privacy and personalized attention. On hand to guide and assist your cosmetic journey is our caring, experienced team, every member of which is devoted to your surgical success.
As a first step, Dr. Karam may perform neck liposuction to remove an excess of fatty tissue. He will then perform a platysmaplasty to tighten the underlying muscles of the neck and improve its overall structure. Finally, he will redrape the skin for a sleeker, more streamlined appearance.
For a neck lift, Dr. Karam will create his incision hidden within the sideburn area of the scalp, or alternatively will create an incision hidden beneath the chin. In all cases, Dr. Karam goes to great lengths to make sure your scarring is well camouflaged.
After your treatment is over, Dr. Karam will supply drainage tubes to excise any excess fluids, and will also apply a light dressing to reduce swelling. This bandage will be worn for about 5-7 days.
For any pain or discomfort, Dr. Karam will prescribe medications. It’s normal to expect swelling, bruising, tenderness and redness for a few weeks after a surgery. Dr. Karam suggests that you sleep with your head slightly elevate, and that you get plenty of sleep to aid in your recuperation.
After about two weeks, you will be able to resume all your normal activities, including exercise, driving and working.
During this initial session, the doctor will examine your neck, record your medical history, and answer all your questions in greater detail. He will cover such topics as financing, insurance and costs; risks and possible complications; recovery and downtime; and naturally, how he can achieve your most cherished results with a neck lift La Jolla has to offer.
Dr. Karam, who is board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and American Board of Otolaryngology, offers services in San Diego County including San Diego, Del Mar, Carlsbad, Carmel Valley, Encinitas, Rancho Bernardo and La Jolla in Southern California.
