Like primary rhinoplasty, revision rhinoplasty aims to create balanced, harmonious outcomes for the nose that improve both aesthetics and function.
Corrections are made to the bridge of the nose, the tip, the nostril and the septum, as bone and cartilage is reshaped and refined.
In the case of revision rhinoplasty, often the patient has undergone a nose job at another practice and is unhappy with the results, and is seeking an improvement. In this case, there may be scar tissue to contend with, which makes for a more complex and delicate procedure. A surgeon is needed who has impeccable precision, along with a sophisticated sense of artistry to correct another surgeon’s mistakes.
Dr. Karam is well versed in revision procedures and has a high rate of patient satisfaction with his stunning results. He is careful never to over-operate, thus preserving the internal structures of the nose while minimizing flaws.
When you first meet with Dr. Karam in the privacy and comfort of his San Diego offices, you will be struck right away by how much more he listens than he talks.
Dr. Karam believes that communication between the client and the surgeon is key in accomplishing a successful transition to your new aesthetic.
The doctor will then perform an in-depth examination of your nose, taking photographs and going over notes from previous medical and cosmetic treatments. He will use this information to formulate a plan of action for resolving your most troublesome issues with your nose. The doctor will be sure to answers all questions and concerns, including those regarding costs, insurance and financing; risks and possible complications; recovery and downtime; and final results.
Viewing Dr. Karam’s library of before and after photography for revision rhinoplasty is an important part of your consultation, as this will give you more insight into whether he is the right surgeon for your needs. You will be able to see a variety of cases in which Dr. Karam corrected nasal issues, both functional and cosmetic, and if you don’t immediately see photos that you connect with, you can always ask to see more.
After your surgery, you will require a friend or family member to drive you home from your procedure since you will have received general anesthesia.
Dr. Karam will provide you with the proper pain medications, along with some nasal packing and a splint.
Within the first week, the splint will be removed, and you can begin to resume your normal work and recreational activities. Swelling will persist, but it will gradual lesson, revealing your beautiful new nose.
At around six weeks, you will be happily showing off your nose in photos and on social media. Even though some minor swelling will still be present, it will be unnoticeable by everyone except you and Dr. Karam.
Finally, around 18 months post-op, all swelling will have subsided and your nose will have reached its final result in terms of size and shape. This is especially rewarding and satisfying as you will no longer need to question your final outcome.
The relationship between the nose and chin is often overlooked when assessing the aesthetics of the face. Many individuals with small or undersized chins are not aware of the extent to which this feature is contributing to the illusion of a larger nose. In many cases, only minor refinements of the nose are required to significantly improve the nasal aesthetics when accompanied with chin augmentation.
Having dedicated his entire practice to treating the face and neck, Dr. Karam is highly qualified and successful at achieving remarkable rhinoplasty results and has an almost non-existent rate of revision surgeries as he tends to get it right the first time around.
Clients travel from not only San Diego, but from all over the glove to receive revision rhinoplasty with Dr. Karam, feeling confident from his reviews and photos that he will be able to provide a solution to the most complex and demanding revision scenarios.
